Speed Squares
Personal Recommendation: I would recommend both the
24" rafter square (more accurate) and the smaller speed square.
The speed square has a ridge on one side that allows you to place the
square on the edge of a 2x4 and draw a perfectly perpendicular line
across its width. The smaller speed square will also fit in places
where the 24" square won't. The rafter square shown below is made
of aluminum so it will not rust.
